While we try to make swim lessons as fun as possible what is taught is extremely serious and invaluable. Lil' Swimmer Aquatics teaches children from about 6 months to 7 years survival swimming and stroke skills based on the proven PediaSwim methodology for children in the greater Apollo Beach, Ruskin, and Riverview areas. Children learn appropriate swimming postures which allow them to rotate into a back float position to rest and breathe. This important skill will prepare your child should they fall into the water. Children also learn to swim between adults, pool steps and the pool edge to improve their skills and for fun. Infants and toddlers are taught to swim, roll completely over onto their backs to float and breathe. They are able to remain in this position for a very long time, even while fully clothed.
The focus for infant and toddler swimming lessons at Lil' Swimmer Aquatics is survival. Drowning is the leading cause of death in the nation for children under age 4. Florida has the highest accidental drowning death rate in the nation for children ages 1 to 4 and 3 times the national rate. View the Florida Department of Health's Drowning Fact Sheet.
These statistics are alarming. While no child is drown proof, the good news is with education and supervision drowning is preventable.
Teaching infants and young children survival swimming is an important fight against pediatric drowning. To protect their children, parents need to understand the importance of mastering swimming skills and an ability to survive unexpectedly falling into the water.
We teach a comprehensive swimming education and self-rescue skill instruction method that is well established and has been in use for years. Methods are based on physiology, anatomy, child psychology and other disciplines to ensure the best experience for your child.
We currently offer lessons at the Apollo Beach location. The pool is heated and has salt chlorination for healthful swimming experiences.
