Korey Nielson is the instructor and owner of Lil' Swimmer Aquatics, a company dedicated to the charter of teaching infants and children water safety techniques. He is a member of the The National Drowning Prevention Alliance (NDPA), holds a bachelors of science degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Utah and is a former Certified Personal Trainer. Korey is excited to be able to have such a rewarding career helping children and the community by teaching children in the Southshore area survival swimming techniques. He began his career with Lil' Swimmer Aquatics when his son Logan got involved in his first swimming lessons. He quickly realized the importance of children learning these skills to help protect themselves from family and neighborhood swimming pools where 98% of drownings of children ages 1-4 occur. He contacted SouthWest Aquatics where he went through an extensive hands-on training and academic study program and was certified through the PediaSwim Academy. Korey teaches at his home pool in Apollo Beach.
Jamie Wikfors
Jamie is a certified instructor with Lil’ Swimmer Aquatics. She has a degree in Exceptional Education from The University of Central Florida and worked as an educator for Hillsborough county for eight years. Her area of expertise in the school system was working with students with various disabilities and exceptionalities. She has always enjoyed working with children, and recently decided to make the switch from school teacher to swim instructor. Her experience with children, especially children with disabilities makes her a knowledgeable instructor, who is comfortable working with children at any and all different ability levels.
Jamie has three small children of her own, all of whom completed their swim training with Lil’ Swimmer Aquatics. After seeing all of her children learn, and thrive through the program she decided being a part of the company would be a great fit! She knew the benefits of the program and wanted to take her skills as an educator and apply them to swimming.
Jamie is certified through the National CPR Foundation for Adult/Children/Infant CPR/AED. Jamie teaches at the Rivercrest pool in Riverview.
